Mold In Homes

Apartment Listing

You would be familiar with molds if you are living in a humid area. These irritating microorganisms thrive and grow on just about any type of moist surface. Maintaining a moist free area in naturally humid conditions is quite impractical and difficult.

These microorganisms play a crucial role in maintaining the biodiversity and equilibrium of our eco system. They eat on dead animal, leaves, etc. helping the environment clean up its own waste products. They have a characteristic “spore reproduction” mechanism. Some spores are air borne while vectors like animals, insects, humans, etc carry other types of spores. When these spores find optimum conditions to grow and multiply, they do so at a very fast rate.

These microscopic organisms can pose serious health hazards to humans if found growing indoors in our homes, offices, etc. They produce foreign substances like allergens (responsible for causing allergic reactions in humans), irritants and mycotoxins. Because these toxicants travel in air, inhaling the infected air can cause many health problems for you and your pets.

You might experience flu-like symptoms if you have inhaled these spores or toxic substances produced by these spores. Runny nose, skin rashes, constant sneezing are very common symptoms. In some cases, your eyes might become red too. People suffering from respiratory infections in particular are easily prone to mold attacks. A recurrent asthma attack coupled with difficulty and congestion while breathing is common.

Moisture or water is crucial for survival of mold spores. Therefore, maintaining the place as dry and hygienic as possible is a must.

When humans inhale these minute particles, a series of allergic reactions occur in the body leading to numerous health and respiratory problems. This problem is widespread in America where one out of six Americans suffers from some kind of allergic infections at least once in his/her lifetime. More..
