How Can I Remove Mold From My House ?

Apartment Listing

Molds fall under the Fungi family. They grow in clusters and feed on dead decaying material in the forests. They require moisture for survival and growth. If you are living in a most humid area, getting rid of these stubborn microorganisms can be a little tricky. Molds reproduce by spore formation. If molds live in a particular area for a long time, they produce millions of spores that easily roam around in the atmosphere.

It is always better to prevent the formation of molds in the first place instead of going and looking around for different ways to get rid of them. If you are living in a humid area, keep your place well ventilated. This will reduce the humidity levels inside. Clean up any liquid, water or juices, which have spilled on the floor or the wall.

The type of cleaner or detergent you use for removing molds will depend on the type of surface that has been affected. For example, walls will require different detergents whereas wooden floorings would require mild detergents. Chlorine should not be used on delicate materials like clothes.

You can also utilize sunlight for pieces that can be moved around. Place them under direct sunlight to get rid of molds and spores. If your newspapers or magazines or any type of paper product is infected with molds, it is advisable to chuck them out instantly. You cannot remove molds from paper. If you are planning to paint your home, remember to scrub the surface thoroughly and make sure there is no mold growth before applying a fresh coat of paint. Molds will easily survive under paints making your mold removal task tougher. Try vacuuming your carpet for fast results. Apply the cleaner with a soft cloth and remove excess moisture with a dry cloth. Keep the basements and garages well ventilated, airy and sunny.
