Today, this snake charming is a very popular kind of entertainment. It is believed that this art actually originated in India. For some time, the government of India promoted snaking charming as a way to draw and attract foreign tourists. However, with deforestation and protests from human rights groups, this has become a dying art. In fact, snake charming in India is no longer a profitable profession as it used to be decades ago. In addition, snaking charming is no longer legal in India. However, in rural settings, many Indians believe that snake charmers are sacred individuals who were determined by the superiors.
